Pseudo-grains are seeds and grasses commonly classified as grains but are not truly grains. These are super foods which are high in protein, high in fiber and low on the glycemic scale.
Reasons not to eat grains: many grains are now processed which has reduced their nutritional value; grains may be associated with a variety of digestive issues and some people; many people have an intolerance to gluten which is a protein found in some process grains; the majority of grains are associated with inflammation in the body; many corn and soy grains have become genetically modified in the United States; eating or over grains on a regular basis can lead to elevated insulin levels and insulin insensitivity.
